Dougalston Dovecot lies within the designed landscape of Dougalston House, which was purchased by John Glassford, a famous Tobacco Lord, in 1767. However it is not known if he had the dovecot built, or if his son built it at a later date. The dovecot now sits in the middle of a golf course. The dovecot is hexagonal with built-up windows. There is a slight possibility that some stones may be re-used. Paul Bishop originally recorded 48 marks but a later visit by the Project extended the number to 72 marks. These marks were the work of 12 different masons.
